Ken is a Retired Elder in the United Methodist Church, gladly serving part-time at LUMC as Pastor of Congregational Care. He grew up in Connecticut, born in Bridgeport and raised in Newtown. He spent a total of seven years in the U.S. Army, and became a Christian as a result of some vivid conversion experiences that happened during his second enlistment. He has a BA in English, and an embarrassing number of Master’s
degrees in subjects related to literature and religion. In the mid-nineties, he was a Ph. D candidate in English at Case Western Reserve University. He was at work on his
dissertation when a gentle but persistent faith crisis led him to understand that he needed to be in full-time ministry. He resigned from the Ph. D program and began what would turn out to be a nine-year quest for ordination in the United Methodist Church, earning a Master of Divinity degree from the Methodist Theological School in Ohio in 1999. He served as a full-time Pastor, under appointment for a total of fifteen years, serving churches in Empire, North Canton, Akron, Marshallville, and Easton, all in Northeast Ohio.
Since retirement from active pastoral ministry in 2013, Ken has been pursuing his passion for music. With a lot of help from his friends, he came out with a CD of original songs in 2014, is currently at work on a new recording project, and can be seen at various open mics on both the east and west sides of Cleveland, and at the occasional solo gig.
He and Kathy have been married for 43 years. Kathy served as a pastor for 26 years, and was mentor and role model to Ken as he took his own faltering steps into that demanding calling. They have one grown son, Josh.
