At LUMC, people do not need to be members to participate in the faith community. All activities, studies, and worship services are open to everyone. We are striving as a church to be a place where people deepen their faith and join Jesus in ministry. Membership is something that we grow into, and it is okay if you are not yet at that commitment level. Membership is about a commitment to living as a disciple. It is about becoming a part of a team (the body of Christ) that is seeking to make a difference in the world by making disciples.
Joining Lakewood United Methodist Church is the first step you can take in deepening your faith and growing as a disciple. If you feel as though you are ready to take the next step towards membership, please speak with one of the pastors and we will guide you through the process. We invite you to attend the next Pizza with the Pastors.
Pizza with the Pastors
At this informal gathering you will learn a little bit more about the pastors and the ministries LUMC offers. We will give you resources to understand where you are on your spiritual journey as well as talk about discipleship and membership. We will lay out the expectations that we have for members of our church as well as give you an opportunity to ask us any questions you may have.
Pizza with the Pastors happens the 4th Sunday of each month at 12:15 p.m. in the café adjacent to the sanctuary. You can plan for us to be together for about an hour and a half and childcare will be made available if needed. Please let Pastor Laura know (firstname.lastname@example.org or 216-226-8644) if you have any dietary restrictions or if you need childcare.
If following this gathering you determine that you would like to be a member of LUMC, we will give you the opportunity to make that commitment. You can find a copy of the membership covenant that we ask all new members to sign here.
