Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. It is our prayer that your ceremony will be among the most joyous and memorable experiences for you and your family. It is fitting that a wedding ceremony be held within the church. If Lakewood UMC can help make this time in your life memorable, then we will do our best.
The following information is meant to provide helpful information as you consider the site of your wedding ceremony.
strong>Frequently asked questions about weddings at LUMC
Are non-members able to be married at LUMC?
Yes, this is a decision of a pastor and requires consultation.
Can I use my own pastor?
This practice is discouraged unless your pastor is co-officiating the ceremony with one of the LIMC pastors.
Can I bring my own organist?
The LUMC organist must be consulted and give approval for any other organist.
Does the church have an aisle runner?
No, the church does not provide an aisle runner.
Can I attach decorations to the pews?
Yes, as long as the pews are not damaged. Tape is not permitted on the walls or pews.
Can I use rice or birdseed?
LUMC discourages the throwing of rice, birdseed or any other product that requires special clean –up.
Are alcoholic beverages permitted?
No, the use of alcoholic beverages or smoking is not permitted on church property.
Is premarital counseling required?
Yes, preparation is important not only for the ceremony but also for the marriage. When you consult with the pastor, you can ask more about this requirement.
What are the fees for a wedding?

For non-members - $500 for sanctuary (seats 800), $125 for chapel (seats 75)
Organist (member or non-member) $125
If a soloist is involved(you supply) an additional $50
Custodian $75
Candelabra $42(candles supplied)- optional
Pastor Honorarium $250 (includes premarital counseling, rehearsal, ceremony)
Once you have consulted with a pastor about the date and he/she has agreed to perform the ceremony, a non-refundable $100 deposit is required to secure the date on the church calendar. Checks are made payable to “Lakewood United Methodist Church” and given to the secretary of the church.

The sacrament of baptism is an expression of God’s love and grace. Baptisms at LUMC are administered annually on Mother’s and Father’s Day. The sacrament of baptism is also administered throughout the year as scheduled.
Those interested in receiving baptism should contact the church office and speak to a pastor.
